MBA for Freshers: 6 Key Skills Management Students Learn
Our students do not wait for their management degree to get started with
managerial roles. It starts right at the campus! Here is a method that is helping our students master the skill of management as part of their MBA program.
The Power of Listening -
Listen to experts and their ways. Their perspective and experience have a lot to contribute. Young minds can easily gather these imprints and practice
management. Long-form podcasts and Ted Talks have served us with top industry leaders opening about their skills and contribution in building and managing systems over years in their field. The digital boon has allowed us to choose the industry we want to know about with options to choose from a global platter.
In-house, ITM Business School organises CEO talks within the campus where
MBA students can directly interact with industry leaders and listen to their golden wisdom, a valuable part of the MBA iConnect experience.
Shadow the Expert-
Practical learning goes a long way in establishing confidence. Task management, prioritization, communication strategy, and developing core skills within teams are minor tasks that help streamline long-term objectives. These are skills that can be mastered through observing and shadowing an expert. These are managerial skills that can gradually upscale a fresher to management roles
At ITM Business School, complex task challenges are given to students as a part of club activities, helping develop key managerial skill sets. Events like those at MBA colleges in Mumbai and participation in the Best MBA colleges environment help the fresh batch to learn and grow in an interactive environment.
Attend Discussions -
A lot can happen over coffee! That holds true even at a workplace, where
brainstorming sessions and strategy meetings are in full swing. As a fresher, you might not be well-versed with the nitty-gritties of the business, but your fresh perspectives might lead to a new approach. Moreover, attending crucial
discussions and communicating openly will grant the confidence to handle these situations in the future and gradually become the decision maker.
ITM Business School hosts Panel Discussions on campus, where industry
leaders are invited to conduct dynamic sessions. Our students can get a true taste of leadership meetings and are free to share their thoughts and inputs, gaining insights relevant to MBA in marketing and other MBA program fields.
Multi-Tasking -
Leaders are always hustling across different roles. But management skills let them work in balance rather than juggle. They work with empathy and resilience, showcasing how effective multitasking paired with strategic focus can drive impactful change. Such leaders demonstrate that a commitment to lifelong learning and adaptability enables them to thrive across diverse roles, shaping the world through an ability to integrate multiple responsibilities seamlessly.
At ITM Business School, students are served with different challenges from
classroom sessions to group activities, student clubs to competitions, and
academic work to community building. ITM students organize events and
activities from college-level competitions to international conferences. The
students travel to gather sponsorships, invite delegates, and motivate inter-college students to participate in exuberant activities, a critical part of their MBA admission journey.
Time Management -
A well-scheduled week is a manager’s weapon to success. Learning to overcome procrastination and achieve goals by applying the SMART method—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—ensures that tasks are clear and attainable within a set timeframe. By setting concrete deadlines and breaking larger projects into smaller milestones, managers can maintain focus, track progress, and adapt as needed to meet their objectives effectively.
Our curriculum sets a clear agenda for students to attend lectures, CEO and Panel discussions, submit case analyses and projects, publish papers for international conferences, and take their on-job training. But they do all of this in high spirit while designing and delivering in weekly activities and monthly competitions for student clubs, grooving at cultural celebrations, spending weeks internationally during excursion tours, and voluntarily contributing to community building activities with NGOs. Throughout their MBA iConnect journey, time management is strategically developed in ITM students.
Delegating -
Delegating isn’t just about offloading tasks. It is the sign of a true leader who can trust a team to handle additional responsibilities without micromanaging individuals to deliver. Delegating begins with the skill to forecast and strategize task management without waiting for priorities to become critical. Great leaders are pros at recognizing talents and delegating tasks to create self-motivated individuals who can take accountability beyond their defined KRAs.
ITM faculties create leaders in the classroom by delegating academic
responsibilities that contribute towards their learning environment. Final-year students train first-year students, so these fresh minds can learn through
experience. The training includes campus activities, student clubs, and delegating 4 major responsibilities of planning, organizing, fundraising, creative decisions, and final execution on a weekly basis.
ITM Business School has consistently aced building these managerial skills in
students over the last 34 years. We have built a space for students to not only
enjoy the next 2 years but also to grow professionally. Take a deep dive and watch behind the scenes of major campus activities to find how our students are winning the challenges, every single day of their MBA iConnect program!
