But before we begin with the list. Let’s understand who are VFX artists?

Take any film, all the stunning effects that you see nowadays are created by the visual effect artists. They are the backbone of any movie and are as important as the stars.  They use special software to create animations and special effects and for that they train really hard. If you choose this field be prepared to learn and adapt continuously as this industry is evolving fast. 

As a VFX artist you might find your work area spanning movies, television shows, or video games. You can become a part of a big team under a big brand name or may choose to work independently. But to enter the field you need proper training and must graduate with a vfx course.

What are the career options available after a VFX Course?

Previsualization : The previsualisers are involved in creating a 3D animation of a script. You’d be responsible for translating the director’s version into visuals. You’d need skills in a 3D animation application like Maya, working knowledge of composition and After Effects. 

Layout Artist: As a layout Artist you will be a part of the previsualisation team.  They are responsible for laying the foundations for how the visuals eventually will look. Often a layout technical director is a person with real knowledge of cameras, lighting,  and are well versed with the fundamentals of composing different shorts.

Concept Artist: The concept artists are the key players in the team who are given the brief from the client or the VFX director and translate that into visuals. Usually, they set the process for the rest of the team to follow. Based on your ideas character designers and compositing artists will create the models and backgrounds for the movie.

Modelers: A modeler’s job is to turn anything into 3D. It can be a character or an environment. You would need a good knowledge of drawing, topology, and software applications to create stunning models. For modelers it is important to keep learning to align their skills with new technologies and industry standards. 

Compositing Artist: A compositing artist’s job is to ensure that the visuals integrate seamlessly with the live action scenes and don’t distract the viewers. It is a very critical job as one glitch can ruin the experience for the audience.
